That honor goes to Everquest 1. I played other MMOs at the time like Dark Sun Online and Ultima Online. Everquest just grabbed me. It hit all the marks. The only other game that grabbed me like this was Star Wars Galaxy Online. Even that paled to my playtime with EQ.
